Now in this century everyone one is trying as hard as they can to come out with newer electronic products so they can be the next big thing. Recently a movie box came out that allows you to get all free movies something kind of like Napster where  people work together and program something so that everyone can use it for free. This box is called kodi and it is able to get free movies in HD quality even the ones in the theaters and it streams live tv. Many things like this product have been coming out recently and it puts a strain on movie production because if everyone ends up getting this boxes then there will be no need for people like Comcast and Ondemand.

 Recently Iv been seeing how much media I have been consuming and how it is taking up too much of my time. Over the weekend on Friday after I got of work my mom took me to go get some food and we decided to go to Tower Cafe. While we were there I noticed that instead of talking to each other and socializing we were both on our phones and thankfully I thought to myself of how sad that was I put my phone away and put her phone on the table and I made me remember of how when I was little and we actually socialized. Looking back at it feels so degrading because I am with my family only so many hours in the day and with the times that I am spending  with them I am on my phone updating on my friends statuses. And also on Saturday I went with my friends and we drove to the theaters  and saw the new Star Wars,  (which was pretty good, but it leaves you on a big cliffhanger) I thought that, that wasn't media but looking back at it it is so I  also spent a good two hours with my friends watching media.

The way I see it is that it is two sided good and bad. It gives everyone something to do but it has a down fall it makes you less sociable.

Ad's Overdoing It

When I am on my computer, phone or any device I go on for one of two purposes. It is either to free my mind of boredom, or if I really want to find out something like a music video, but for some reason every time I do this I find ads everywhere on the sides of the pages on middle top and bottom. I don't understand why all these companies need to have so much advertisement. It is starting to get really annoying, everything I do leads me to a new advertisement and if I want to continue what I am doing I have to wait a good minute before I can. I have been thinking and the way the ads work is these companies make a lot of money based on people who pay to get these ads removed. All of the apps are worth more money when they get ads because if it is popular, people use it a lot and don't want ads so they pay to get them removed and also get paid buy companies to have the ads put on there.
So it is a win win situation for the apps and websites to have ads.

The Persuader 

While watching this movie I was able to see how how all these companies are able to control our view of any product they want us to buy. There is one main key thing that you need to do and that is tell the buyer that they could be that good if only they had that product. They show you examples of people who are your definition of perfect, and tell you that it could be you if you bought their item. This is so appealing to everyone because everyone wants to be perfect and the easiest way to getting there is to just order it and start getting results. Most of the time people end up falling for this trap and turns out the product didn't work as well as you had imagined. Another important factor of advertisement is putting it everywhere, you go downtown and see advertisement on every corner from billboards, to posters, flyers, stickers, anything. This allows the company to spread the word and many people start to talk about these products. We don't look at something and say whether or not it could actually could use it for something good, we buy it because it looks cool at the moment and it makes us think of stuff we would use it for but never end up getting to it. 

 

Cover Ups

We all use media in our daily lives, so much that when we are scrolling through our daily feeds sometimes we pass something that could have been important. When I think of media I think of it as something to cover up another story. We see these terrible things in stuff like memes, tv shows, movies, and many others forms of media. The things that we see could range form anywhere like horror that happens in real life, terrible things that happened in a war, etc. All of these things are being hidden by the funny captions that people make and put on them, as for tv shows we see these shows that make things like murder, rape, insets, suicide, etc and we enjoy them but I don't understand why. These shows and other forms of media hide the fact that this stuff is actually going on and want to make you believe that we can turn theses terrible things into something that a person enjoys to watch.  It goes as for as a young boy playing a video game such as a shooter game while he is playing it he forgets that it is nothing like being in real war and likes the idea of the game, so they chose to go into the military because they thought it was going to be just like the game. The military has gone as far as to set up game systems in their place and tried to recruit kid though that. Another great example of covering up the story.

Same Same but Diffrient

While I was searching around on the internet I came across the many different news channels and different forms of news, talking about how Trump is currently trying to get a secretary of state and he now is trying to elect more than four people for the secretary of state. I found one on Fox News and the title was "Trump expands secretary of state search; more interviews this week." And CNN News which there title was, "Trump now considering more than four for secretary of state, Conway says." Right from the start you are able to tell which article  is leaning more towards Trump because if you read Fox News you will hear information from a certain crowd one that particularly supports whatever they write about, they give you a sense in opinion so you can base yours on theirs. On the other had you have CNN which are particular about not entering to much of their opinions they base more of their writing towards the factual evidence and give insight on what actually happens. Alone in their titles Fox news says , "Trump EXPANDS" which makes attracts the people for Trump because they are the ones wanting to see him succeed most. And CNN says, "Trump now CONSIDERING" which is negative connotation and would attract those who typical don't like him.

My Relationship With Media

My relationship with media takes up a good part of my day and I assume much of everyone else. There are many different ways that you can go and check your media, because there are so many businesses that try to accommodate us for our lack of interest in the real world. I use my social media almost every time that I am bored. Even if it is just for a quick game of pool. It allows me to interest myself and give me ideas of what I should do after I am through with it. An example of this is if I am scrolling through my phone and I happen to come across something cool, it motivates me to get up and go ask my friends to hang out. Then we would go and check out whatever we found interesting. This is the wonderful thing about it, it give you new ideas.

When I think of media I think of entertainment, it is something to pass my time when I have no other things to do. And to be honest I am on it so much that it shows how often I am bored.(It is quite a bit)
There are so many different verity's of media that let us always stay active with all of our friends at any moment in the day. I use around 8 different types of social media and with all of it, it is hard to stop and go away. The ones I use are netflix, snpchat, twitter, instagram, vine, skype, factime, and youtube. A lot of the time when I with all of my friends hanging out, we all get on our phones checking all of our media. This kind of makes me mad because I left the house to go do something active but instead we sit there as if we were not event together. Something that would be nice is if there would be a place where kids could just go to have fun without it being to expensive, somewhere where you could go with your friends and keep you active, and not bored.
